e.1. Academic Experience and Appointments

 

In Egypt: Dr. Megahed has been on the Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University, since 1973. He works as a Teaching and Research Assistant (1973-1978), Assistant Professor (1984-1990), Associate Professor (1990-1995), and Professor (1995-Now). He also works as a part timer and/or full time at the American University in Cairo (AUC); Lecturer (1977-1978) for Aramco Oil Company training program, Assistant Professor (1984-1987), and Professor (1995- 2005). In addition, Dr. Megahed has been appointed as the chairman of Industrial and Manufacturing Department, Faculty of Engineering Cairo University/Fayoum Branch (1998-2002). Currently, Dr. Megahed is a Professor at Cairo University and in addition he is the Director of  the Center for Advancement of Post-Graduate Studies and Research in Engineering Sciences, Faculty of Engineering – Cairo University (CAPSCU).

 

In Abroad: Dr. Megahed had started his Doctoral Program by an Intensive Course in French Language in France for one year (1978-1979). He works as a Researcher in the National Scientific Research Center, LAAS‑CNRS, Toulouse, France (1979-1984). He was also a Visiting Professor at Waterloo University, Canada (August 1989). In addition, he was on leave to Kuwait University as Assistant Professor (1987-1990). and to King Saud University, Saudi Arabia as Associate Professor (1991-1994). In the last five years, Dr. Megahed has made several Scientific visits to the University of Illinois at Chicago(UIC) and Northern Illinois University (NIU), USA.

g.1 Under and Post Gradute Courses

 

Dr. Megahed has taught many Under and Post‑Graduate Courses which include: Theory of Machines, Automatic Control, Engineering Mechanics, Robotics Engineering, and Mechanical Vibrations in Cairo University and American University in Cairo (AUC) in Egypt, Kuwait University in Kuwait and King Saud University in Saudi Arabia. Also he has supervised the work of many B.Sc., senior, and graduate projects in addition to the research work of more than 10 M.Sc.and Ph.D. students.

Dr. Megahed has participated in many industrial-training courses starting in 1984 till now. These courses are prepared for Engineers and Technicians at many Industrial Centers in Egypt and abroad. These courses take place in many companies such as: the Egyptian Iron and Steel Company, Egyptian Castings Company, Cairo University, American University in Cairo (AUC), Badr Petroleum Company, NAFTOGAZ in Algeria, and KPC in Kuwait. g.3 Main Research Interest

 

Dr. Megahed’s research interest includes robot modeling, simulation & control, and system dynamics. He has more than 70 publications in the field of dynamics and robotics. He is the author of a published book with John-Wiley & Sons Publisher Ltd., England, in 1993 entitled: Principles of Robot Modeling and Simulation. He is a reviewer of many papers for different International Journals and Conferences. He participated in more than 30 international conferences, and scientific visits. He was also  the General Secretary and Editor-in-Chief of MDP-7 (February 2000) of the Mechanical Design & Production Dept., Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University, Egypt. He has served as a principal or co-principal investigator in many Research Projects and Grants supported by Cairo University, Kuwait University, and US-Egypt Funds through the Academy of Scientific Research and Technology Egypt.
