One of the main objectives of the Center for Advancement of Post-Graduate Studies and Research in Engineering Sciences at the Faculty of Engineering, Cairo University (CAPSCU) is to encourage and support post-graduate studies and research in engineering sciences. This objective is achieved by various means such as providing financial support to the laboratories involved in research work, particularly those concerned with applied research, and encouraging post-graduate students and their supervisors to publish their research results in reputable international journals and conferences. Therefore, CAPSCU board has agreed during 1995 to award annual prizes to distinguished post-graduate students who have finished their M. Sc. or Ph.D. degrees as well as their supervisors. Three prizes were granted annually to graduate students from three departments. Selection of thesis (or theses) for the prize is made by a committee formed by the chairman of each department. The decision is made on the basis of quality of research work and the publications emerging from the thesis. Starting from the year 2000, CAPSCU issued new regulations for the Distinction Prizes built upon the earlier success of the prize during its first round (1995-1999). The number of yearly prizes as well as the financial reward has been substantially increased. The following lists the names of holders of CAPSCU prize for “Distinction in Post-Graduate Studies” for the years from 1995 to 2003. |
